This course introduces students to the major problems and figures of philosophy. Gives students a greater understanding of human experience through the examination of the concepts of reality, knowledge and value. Questions posed may include: Does God exist? Do we act freely? Is the mind distinct from the body? Can we ever know anything for certain? What really matters?

By the end of this course, students will have...
1. Become familiar with major philosophical themes, problems, & methods of dealing with them;
2. Been introduced to important classical & contemporary philosophers;
3. Learned how to read & interpret philosophical texts;
4. Acquired an initial command of philosophical language;
5. Demonstrated what it means to adopt a "philosophical attitude"; &
6. Learned what philosophy is & the ways in which it is relevant to one’s personal & professional life.
